A town hall meeting held in Loinaconing fcoused on a potential new business according to the Cumberland Times News. The owner of property in Lonaconing defended his right to sell his property during an open meeting Thursday with the Lonaconing Town Council concerning speculation that a Dollar General store might come to the town. “I’m not doing anything different than anyone in here would do if they owned a property — to try to sell it for the most money that you could get out of it,” said Lee Fisher, owner of 71 E. Main St. Held at Town Hall, the evening meeting was attended by roughly 40 citizens with several of them signing up to speak on the topic.

“We wanted to hold the meeting to let people have an opportunity to speak on it,” said Mayor Jack Coburn in a Times-News interview Friday.

Rumors have been circulating in the Lonaconing area for the past eight months that a Dollar General will be locating there. Fisher said he and his family has been treated poorly since the process began.
