Domestic Assault on Bedford Street

On December 28, 2013 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 1607 Bedford Street for a reported 911 hang-up complaint.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a male victim who advised the officers that he was assaulted by his wife, Lili Nelson.  Officers on the scene observed the victim holding a towel over his mouth which was bleeding from the alleged assault.  During an investigation into the matter officers learned that the victim and Lili Nelson were arguing over a purchase that Nelson recently made.   The victim advised the officers that Nelson took the content of their conversation wrong and began to strike him in the face and chest.   Officers were able to make contact with Nelson who was also on the scene.   Nelson admitted to the officers that she struck her husband but only out of fear for her safety.  Due to the injuries that the victim sustained and the information received from both parties, Nelson was arrested at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Nelson was later taken before the Allegany County District Court Commissioner for her initial appearance.  Nelson was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

Charge:  2nd degree assault
