Now that the downtown construction project has had its official unveiling, Small Business Saturday, happening tomorrow, means even more to downtown businesses. An American Express survey says locally owned businesses are 95% confident about their holiday sales, up from 83% last year.  Melinda Kelleher of the Downtown Development Commission urges local shoppers to come see the new downtown and spend money locally…

“These small businesses in Cumberland have really, and I said this at the ribbon-cutting in my talk, but they really have persevered through this very difficult eighteen months. So I really am asking the community to get out and support them this holiday season and to help them make up for any business they may have lost during the construction period and to help them kind of get through the winter.”
