The ninth annual Downtown Cumberland New Years Eve Ball Drop will see some new wrinkles this year. Watching the iconic New Year’s Eve ball drop is a beloved tradition- however for many, a trip to New York City is not possible and they simply watch the grand event on television. However, over the past several years, local revelers have been given a different venue — right here in Cumberland. In 2005 Cumberland joined the ranks of many other communities that have created New Year’s Eve celebrations that mirror the famed New York City event. Organizers refer to Cumberland’s celebration as Times Square South. Mayor Brian Grim says that this years event, thanks in large part to the efforts of City Council members Nicole Wagoner and Nick Scarpelli, will feature a fire works display…
