Dr. Cox Does Not Believe Bills Will Have Impact On School Calendar

Among the hundreds of education bills being considered by the Maryland General Assembly this session, include a number that would propose changes to school calendars. Among those, one would look to reduce the 180 day requirement; another calls for the elimination of Easter Monday as a school holiday; while still another recommends making Veterans Day a vacation day for students. Allegany County School Superintendent Dr David Cox says he doesn’t anticipate any of those efforts being successful- and the state superintendents association opposes them. On the Veterans Day issue, Cox says he believes having students in school on that day is far more beneficial than simply having an “off day”…
