Dr. Cox Participates In Final School Board Meeting

After a decade on the job, Allegany County School Superintendent Dr David Cox participated in his final meeting Tuesday afternoon, and now prepares to return to his home area to head the school system in Sullivan County Tennessee. Cox, who was hired in June of 2009, saw graduation rates increase and the dropout rate drop during his tenure. He also was instrumental in bringing together all of the parties in securing funding for- and seeing the construction of a new Allegany High School come to fruition.  The longest serving superintendent in the state, Cox was named Superintendent of the Year in 2016. Following a brief ceremony where he was presented with several gifts including a framed portrait of Allegany County- Cox took time out to thank those who helped him achieve such successes during the past ten years.
