Dr. David Cox Addresses Concerns Surrounding Chinese Immersion Program

Allegany County Superintendent of School Dr David Cox was a guest Monday on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” to address concerns surrounding the Chinese Immersion program raised  by a  number of candidates running for seats on the School Board. In addition an overview of the program was part of Monday evening’s meeting of the board. The educational course is available at West Side Elementary School and Braddock Middle School, has approximately 120 students, and includes seven Chinese instructors teaching Chinese Mandarin language with math, science and culture. Candidates David Bohn, Robert Farrell and Wayne Foote, a current board member, have raised questions about the program, with a particular concern about the role of the Confucius Institute and political propaganda. The candidates have pointed to internet sites that raise red flags about the program…
