Dr. David Cox Gets 4 Year Contract

No overflow crowds and no fireworks Tuesday night as the Allegany County Board of Education extended a new four year contract offer to Superintendent David Cox- and he accepted.  The only real point of controversy was the 3-1 vote, which resulted when Board member Lorelee Farrell- an outspoken critic of Dr Cox- opted not to vote based on the opinion of the Board’s Ethics Panel.  Board members Laurie Marchini, Sara Beth Bittinger and Tammy Fraley voted in support of the new contract while member Wayne Foote was the lone dissenting vote. Fraley, the board’s newest member, said she has been impressed with the superintendents overall performance, but would like to see an effort to further involve teachers in the process…
