Dream Of Having A New Animal Shelter Moving Ahead Slowly

The dream of having a new, modern animal shelter in Allegany County is moving ahead- slowly but surely. Stoiber and Associates, a group that has extensive experience in the animal shelter design world, having led the way in the renovation of the 6-year-old Washington Animal Rescue League facility in Washington, was retained earlier this year to map out a plan for Allegany County. Becky McClarran, an officer of the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation, invited Jeffrey Stoiber to provide an update to the Cumberland Rotary Club this week- and the plans are impressive. The state of the art facility would be located on the hill area across from the existing shelter on Furnance Street- with the concept being to utilize the current shelter as an intake facility; and to use the current sheriff’s office as an administrative building…
