Drug arrests

Heading into the holiday weekend, Cumberland City Police made a number of drug arrests during routine traffic stops.

A Cumberland City Police officer conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Industrial Boulevard near Lamont Street.  The officer contacted the operator of the vehicle, Jon Eric Hill, 29,  of Ridgeley West Virginia.  Based on the officer's initial observations during the traffic stop, a K-9 was summoned to the scene to conduct a scan of the vehicle.  The K-9 positively alerted on the vehicle and both Hill and the vehicle were searched.  The search revealed that Hill was in possession of suspected Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia.  Hill was subsequently arrested and charged with the following:

 

 

Possession of CDS – Marijuana – 1 count

Possession of CDS Paraphernalia – 1 count

 

Hill was released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

 

 

And a Cumberland City Police officer conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on westbound I-68 near the Greene Street entrance ramp.  The officer contacted the operator of the vehicle, Philip Michael Cascio, 63, of Reisterstown Maryland.  Based on the officer's initial observations during the traffic stop, a K-9 was summoned to the scene to conduct a scan of the vehicle.  The K-9 positively alerted on the vehicle and both Cascio and the vehicle were searched.  The search revealed that Cascio was in possession of suspected Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia.  Cascio was arrested and charged with the following:

 

Possession of CDS – Marijuana – 1 count

Possession of CDS Paraphernalia – 1 count

 

Cascio was released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.
