At an economic summit Friday in Annapolis, economist Ani
rban Basu delivered his findings of the economic impact of urban Maryland on the rural areas of the state. Basu concluded that Maryland’s taxation structure has negatively impacted rural communities and there have been too many restrictions placed on farming, hunting and natural resources. Over one hundred business officials from around the state attended Basu’s conference, including Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine.
