Edwards Says Bills Calling For Ban On Fracking May Be A Moot Point

State Senator George Edwards tells WCBC News that he fully expects a number of bills to be introduced in the upcoming General Assembly session calling for a ban on fracking- but at this point it all may be a relatively moot point. The state has a moratorium on fracking until next year. The Maryland Department of the Environment released proposed regulations on hydraulic fracturing Nov. 14, opening a 30-day window for public comment.  Edwards says that the regulations could be among the most stringent in the nation- and most of those companies in the hydraulic fracturing drilling business have already set up shop in neighboring states. That could leave a less than booming fracking market in western Maryland even if drilling is ultimately approved…
