Efforts Continue To Place Additional Officers At Allegany Co. Public Schools

In March, the Allegany County Board of Education asked county officials for their assistance in obtaining 13 additional armed officers to patrol area public schools- and efforts are continuing to make that request a reality.  The request came in light of recent shootings taking place at schools in Parkland, Florida and Lexington Park, Maryland. There are currently eight school resource officers working a rotation at the area's public schools.  An additional 13 school resource officers   would cost roughly $1.2 million in salary, training and benefits. School Board vice-president Tammy Fraley said just because the public discussion has died down somewhat- doesn’t mean the issue of off the table…
