After several failed commercial ventures on the part of the Cumberland Mayor and City Council, the city decided to cut its losses in 2015 and demolish the former Memorial Hospital complex. While the structure is gone, the location- generally referred to as the Johnson Heights section of town- is still considered an attractive site for potential development opportunities.
