Due to mechanical issues in the overnight hours on election night, final but unoffcial vote totals for the Mineral County Sheriff's race were not released until 10:30 Wednesday morning. Forrest "Buddy" Ellifritz came out on top with 2,209 votes followed by Keith Anderson of Burlington with 1,805; Rod Ryan of Elk Garden with 827; and John Baniak of Burlington with 697. 404 votes seperates Anderson from Ellifritz. All four are Republicans and with no Democrats running, the winner of the primary- although on the November General ballot- will be the next sheriff. The official vote canvass is set for June 24th.
