A FirstEnergy spokesman reported just after 1 p.m. on Monday that 1582 locations in the Cumberland service area were still without power.
“Wind gusts have started to diminish and we hope to start seeing our progress move in the right direction,” the spokesman said. “Linemen and Trouble men are working around the clock to restore power in very dangerous and hazardous conditions.”
“Fire department units were out overnight responding to calls for downed trees, power lines, small fires as a result of the downed electric lines and other similar incidents related to the high wind,” Emergency Services Deputy Director Roger Bennett said. “We are seeing call volumes and operations transitioning back to normal this afternoon.”
The National Weather Service has canceled the HIGH WIND WARNING and issued a WIND ADVISORY until 4 p.m. for Allegany County. Residents can still anticipate gusty conditions into the evening today.

“Always stay away from downed lines and never assume that they are de-energized,” the FirstEnergy spokesman said.
The estimated restoration time for the Cumberland service areas is Friday, March 1 by 11 p.m.
