‘Energize Maryland’ is Theme for 37th PACE Reception

January 18th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The annual PACE reception and follow-up breakfast is set for next Thursday and Friday and ticket sales have been strong. Talking points for PACE this year include the North/South highway, an energy corridor and support for Allegany College of Maryland, Frostburg State University and Garrett College. The proposed energy corridor would take advantage of the coal, natural gas, wind and water energy available in Western Maryland. Those resources could help Maryland become a leader in helping the U.S. gain energy independence, officials said. Local officials will ask for legislative support in 2013 to establish an energy corridor. Another goal would be to add local jobs and gain revenue for the state and local governments. Bob Smith and Nicole Christian are co-chairing the 37th PACE reception and PACE breakfast with the theme Energizing Maryland, and Smith says the theme this year is ‘Energize Maryland” which he says works well for the western region of the state.
