September 15th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

As Hurricane Florence batters the Carolinas, drivers in the Mid-Atlantic region are watching to see if and how the storm’s impact might affect local gas prices.  Several factors could contribute to a temporary spike in gas prices.  Today’s national gas price average is $2.85 per gallon, which is unchanged in the last week, down a penny in the last month, and 20 cents higher than this time last year. Maryland’s gas average is a penny lower than the national average at $2.84 per gallon, which is once cent higher than last week and last month, and 15 cents more than last year on this date. Although down from last week, Cumberland continues to show the highest prices in the state at $2.94 a gallon
