Farrell Questions Ethics of Board

Allegany County Board of Education candidate Robert Farrell said the school board soliciting an Ethics Commission opinion on possible conflicts of interest he may have if elected to the board is purely political. Although a candidate in this year’s election, Farrell is also in the middle of a lawsuit he filed against the board and superintendent David Cox for wrongful termination. During this week’s public meeting, Board President Sara Beth Bittinger read a statement outlining what area’s the Ethics Commission determined to be off limits for Farrell should be win a seat in November. Farrell questioned the ethics of the board seeking an opinion even before the election results are known- and he believes that board members Bittinger and Laurie Marchini- who chose not to seek re-election- are behind the effort…

    Here’s something I’d like the answer to:
    Of the existing Board Members, who actually attended Allegany County public schools when they were school age?

    Also, how many of their own children attended, or now attend, Allegany County public schools? Just curious.

    If they or their children went to private schools, instead of public,….why? I’d love to have someone let the public know the answers to these questions.
