Farrell To Make Second Run For School Board Position

Three candidates are on file seeking two open seats on the Allegany County Board of Education this fall- including a recently retired school system employee- Lorelee Farrell. Farrell, making a second run for a seat on the board, is in a somewhat unusual situation this go around as she and her husband are currently suing the board that she hopes to become a part of.  In May, Lorelee and Robert Farrell filed a lawsuit against the school board challenging the manner in which their employment had been handled. Mrs. Farrell tells WCBC News that the lawsuit and her campaign are totally unrelated- saying she is running for the board to see a focus placed on what is best for the students and the teachers. She is highly critical of Superintendent David Cox, saying that the board’s relationship with the county commissioners has deteriorated greatly during his seven years on the job- and that teacher morale is at an all time low…
