On 8/19/2019 at 2117 hours, Troopers from the MSP –Hagerstown Barrack were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 70 at Exit 12. A witness advised a dark colored pick-up truck traveling at a high rate of speed passed them to the right.  Once the vehicle passed the witness, it abruptly changed lanes back to lane 1.   During this maneuver, the vehicle lost control, crossed the left shoulder and entered the median.  The vehicle struck several trees before becoming fully engulfed in flames.

The vehicle was found to be a 2018 Ford F-150.  The deceased is identified as Justin David Sproehnle, 38 years of age, of Halfway, MD.  He was the driver and sole occupant.

Lane 1 of Interstate 70 was closed for the duration of the investigation on scene.  The roadway was fully re-opened at approximately 12:15 A.M.  Speeding and reckless driving appear to be a contributing factor to the collision.  The collision remains under investigation at this time.
