On May 3, 2015 at approximately 1227 am, Troopers from the MSP McHenry Barracks responded to New Germany Rd – north of Chestnut Rd for a single vehicle collision. Upon arrival, Troopers observed a white Ford F 350 truck overturned in a field east of New Germany Road. All occupants of the vehicle had been ejected and were in the field when troopers located them. All injured passengers were transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. One occupant, Justin Dale Hetrick, 22 of Grantsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident.
MSP was assisted by Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department, Northern Garrett EMS, and Salisbury EMS. The road was closed for several hours while the MSP Crash Team and a Crash Reconstructionist investigated the scene. The investigation is still ongoing
