A five year-old boy died Friday night during a townhouse fire in Edgewood.
WBAL reports the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office says the fire was contained to the basement of a two-story wood frame townhouse in the 1400-block of Charlestown Drive.
Officials say the boy's father was able to escape with his 2-year-old daughter, but he could not save the boy.
Officials say the home did have working smoke detectors.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
