The City of Cumberland’s Engineering Department would like to notify the public that the Fayette Street Bridge will be opened on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at approximately 8:00 am. The bridge will be re-opened as a one-lane bridge with a weight restriction of 21,000 lbs. for single unit vehicles and 27,000 lbs. for combination unit vehicles. The weight restriction is set at the same limits that existed prior to the bridge closure. Failure to comply with bridge weight restriction will compromise the structural integrity of the bridge. Residents are urged to use caution and yield to on-coming vehicles on the bridge. Any questions should be directed to the City of Cumberland Engineering Department at 301-759-6600.
