Approval by the Maryland Board of Public Works clears the final hurdle for planning to begin in earnest for a new Allegany High School in Cumberland. Attempting to secure funding for new school construction is a lengthy, convoluted process- however to date the Allegany County School System has received approval at every turn. The plan eventually is to construct a brand new Allegany High School on the site of the former Sacred Heart Hospital campus.
