Fire Marshal Issues Early Report On Neighborhood House Fires

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office has issued early reports on fires that did significant damage to two homes on Parkersburg Road in the Frostburg area Sunday.

The first blaze did $225,000 in damage to the house and contents at the Terry Stover residence.  That fire was reported just after 4 PM and 35 firemen from Frostburg took about 15 minutes to get under control.  The fire broke out in an enclosed porch, and the cause in under investigation.

Hot embers from that fire drifted across the street and caused a fire at the Carl Gomer residence, doing a total of $75,000 in damage.  The call came in just before 7 PM, and 20 firefighters from Frostburg responded and had the blaze under control in just 5 minutes.
