Fire That Destroyed Fire House Still Under Investigation

July 9th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Fire departments from West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland are covering the territory in Morgan County usually covered by the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Department following a fire that destroyed the department’s firehouse Tuesday. Morgan County Administrator Jody McClintock said that those departments have agreed to take 12 hours shifts at least through the weekend. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing its investigation into what caused the fire. The building was a total loss but fire chief Matt Grimley was able to drive one of the fire trucks out of the burning building. A tanker truck was lost in the blaze. A few other pieces of equipment were in the shop for repairs and not on the scene. There were no injuries in connection with the blaze.
