First Public Meeting on Canal Place Task Force is Thursday

The first public meeting of a task force formed to study the future of Canal Place and its assets is set for this Thursday afternoon.   House Bill 1245 passed unanimously on a 137-0 vote to create a seven-member task force to look at the asset allocation and structure of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority.  The bill was developed by Delegates Jason Buckel, Wendell Beitzel and Mike McKay. The delegates along with Senator George Edwards, met with the Canal Place board last year and said it intended to pursue a thorough review of Canal Place. Although the idea of dissolving the Canal Place Authority Board has been discussed, Delegate Buckel who will chair the task force, tells WCBC News that is not a primary objective…
