First Republican Candidates Enter Gubernatorial Race

Maryland's 2014 gubernatorial race is warming up as the first Republicans have to cast their hats into the ring. On Monday, Harford County Executive David Craig formally declared his candidacy and on Wednesday, Delegate Ron George of Anne Arundel County made his official announcement. Craig, 63, is a three-term county executive. George, 59, is in his second term in the Maryland House of Delegates. Any republican seeking statewide office in Maryland faces the chore of having to overcome a 2-1 democrat voter margin in the state. Craig said he has received broad support during his time in public office and doesn’t view having to attract democrats to his campaign as a problem…





George said he for one is tired of the partisan politics driving key issues, and he never opposes a good ideal just because it happens to come from a democrat…
