Five Vehicles Involved In Interstate 70 Accident Monday Morning

At least one person was seriously injured in a five vehicle mishap on Interstate 70 in Washington County this morning.

The mishap has created a traffic tie up that continued into the afternoon.

Maryland State Police in Hagerstown released the following details:

Type of Incident:       Personal Injury Collision with Road Closure

Date and Time:          01/14/2019 @ 1000 hours

Location:                    Interstate 70 W/B at the 2 Mile Marker

Vehicle(s):                  #1— Dodge Ram

                                    #2— Chevy Silverado

                                    #3— Chevy Malibu

                                    #4— Chevy Silverado

                                    #5— Peterbuilt Tractor Trailer                                  

Injuries:                      One (1) Driver is being flown by MSP Aviation to Shock Trauma.

One (1) Driver is being transported by Ambulance to Meritus Hospital.

Charges:                     Still under investigation

 

Narrative: On 01/14/2019 around 1000 hours, Troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack were dispatched to the report of a personal injury collision on W/B I-70 around the 2-mile marker involving a total of five vehicles. Preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred in the travel portion of the interstate and the cars involved in the initial vehicle collision had pulled off onto the left shoulder of the highway and were partially in the roadway.
