Flood Warning – Hampshire & Hardy Counties

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VA HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING FOR THE SOUTH BRANCH POTOMAC RIVER NEAR SPRINGFIELD FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON UNTIL SATURDAY EVENING.  AT 3 PM THURSDAY THE STAGE WAS 3.8 FEET AND STEADY.  FLOOD STAGE IS 15.0 FEETMODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST.  FORECAST...RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE BY EARLY TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND CREST NEAR 20.7 FEET BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY MID SATURDAY AFTERNOON.  IMPACT...AT 19.0 FEET...CAMPHOUSES ON THE RIGHT DOWNSTREAM SIDE OF THE RIVER ARE FLOODED.
