The two bidders for re-development of the Footer Dye Works building still haven’t been publicly identified, but the process to award a contract is moving along. The update was provided during Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority. The Authority has been subject to some criticism since the board declined to name the two competing bidders. However, at the start of the afternoon session, Acting Chair Rick Thayer said that correspondence from the Maryland Attorney’s General’s office indicated that the board does infact have the right to keep the names under wraps until a bidder is selected and a contract negotiated.
