Footer Dye Works Proposals To Be Developed

With parcel B at Canal Place now back in control of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority- executive director Dee Dee Ritchie tells WCBC News that its time to develop another request for proposals for the Footer Dye Works building. After months of debate which led to one member of the canal board resigning, the decision was made to put out RFP’s for the aging structure with a mid February deadline. Although nearly 20 rfp packages were requested by potential developers- not one was submitted by that deadline.  Now that options have expired on the adjacent lot known as parcel B, Ritchie says it’s time once again to seek a developer. She says it was the lack of having control of parcel B as part of the original package – and made the project less desirable.  With that hurdle cleared, she hopes to see action taken in the near future…
