Footer Plan Open To Public

February 14th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports the owner of a Frederick area restaurant, who is expressing interest in opening a second restaurant in the Footer Dye Works building at Canal Place, will hold a public meeting Thursday to share his plan for the venture. Gary Brooks, owner of Barley and Hops Grill & Microbrewery, and Michael Joy, the developer of the Footer building, will take questions at the Crabby Pig at Canal Place from 1 to 4 p.m. “In an attempt to stop the rumors of what Barley and Hops Grill & Microbrewery is and isn’t, my business partner Lori Keough and I wish to meet with anyone and everyone who may have a question about us,” said Brooks. Brooks has reached out to Terry Crawford, owner of the Crabby Pig, in recent weeks in an effort to see how the two restaurants could thrive in proximity to each other. The Footer building sits beside the Crabby Pig. “Please stop by and say ‘hello’ to us and also meet Terry Crawford, owner of the Crabby Pig, if you haven’t already,” Brooks said. When the announcement was made in January that Brooks wanted to open a restaurant in the Footer building, many took to social media to protest the opening of another “bar” or “liquor store” in the area. Brooks and Joy want to clear up any misconceptions surrounding the planned establishment.
