Former Bank Of Romney President Dies

Marlin Clyde Biggs, the former President of The Bank of Romney, has passed away at 85.

Biggs was a 1948 graduate of Piedmont High School and attended Catherman's Business School in Cumberland.  He worked for a time as a deputy in the Mineral County Sheriff's Department, and then joined the staff at the Bank of Romney.

Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Romney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Roy Knight officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.

 

 

Marlin was born and raised in Piedmont, graduating from Piedmont High with the class of 1948, then attended Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland. Marlin worked as a Mineral County Deputy Sheriff until 1972 when he joined the staff at The Bank of Romney in1972. Marlin retired from the Bank of Romney as President and continued to serve as Chairman of The Board of Directors. He was a member of the Romney Rotary Club and a Life Member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Marlin served on the Region VIII Economic Development Council and was a member of Clinton Lodge 86. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to travel to the Rocky Mountains to enjoy these pursuits with his son, Alan and friends. He is remembered as a kind, introspective man with a wonderful and dry sense of humor.
