Former Cumberland Mayor Shocked By PHAA’s Actions

The decision last month by the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport Authority to revoke Cumberland’s long-standing right to appoint someone to the airport board caught many off guard including former Mayor Lee Fiedler. The Authority, the board that governs the airport, voted in February to revoke a city right to appoint one seat to the nine-member board.  The Cumberland Times News reports the city’s “right to appoint” was spelled out in airport documents as far back as 1990, when it was included in the Intergovernmental Agreement between Maryland and West Virginia, which was ratified June 11, 1990. Fiedler, who served several years as a member of the PHAA, tells WCBC News he was shocked and disappointed by the authority’s action…
