Former Downtown Mall Manager Says To Take Time Drafting Plans For Bridge Replacement

Former longtime downtown mall manager Ed Mullaney is urging city officials and engineers to take their time when drafting plans for the replacement of the Baltimore Street Bridge. Mullaney, a Cumberland resident and business owner, said the city should view this as an opportunity to focus not just on the safety issue- but the aesthetics as well. The city is in the midst of planning a new $3 million replacement for the Baltimore Street Bridge, which spans Wills Creek and provides a main artery into the historic city center for motorists and pedestrians. Mullaney, one of just two citizens who attended last week’s public work session on the bridge project, said the bridge serves as a gateway to downtown and provides a key first impression…
