We are deeply saddened by Catherine’s passing. We were part of the FSU community during her presidential years, admired her for her intellect and ambition, and appreciated her understanding of and respect and compassion for the university’s students, staff, and faculty. Our interactions with her, whether for business or pleasure, were always warm and collegial.

Catherine will be missed but surely not forgotten because of the remarkable contributions she made, and continues to make, to FSU and higher education in Maryland.
