Former Gov. Glendening Reflects On Bringing Football Back To Maryland

In the early morning hours of March 29th, 1984- fifteen Mayflower trucks to arrived at the Baltimore Colts Owings Mills facility and- unannounced began hauling equipment from the site, moving to Indianapolis. It wasn’t until 1995 that Charm City was able to secure a new NFL team, with the establishment of the Baltimore Ravens. 20 years later, then Governor Parris Glendening reflected on the action and the negotiations leading to the Cleveland Browns becoming the Baltimore Ravens. Ironically Glendening said that bringing football back was not a high priority for him when he campaigned and was elected to office…
