The former Allegany County Human Resources Development Commission building at 19 Frederick Street remains vacant- although Cumberland City Council member David Kauffman is optimistic that post secondary education opportunities may pan out. HRDC vacated the city-owned building in November of 2010 and the city has been looking for a tenant since. Kauffman updated the status of the Expression of Interest for the city-owned last week- days after the deadline for EIO to be submitted. Kauffman has maintained that using the building for education would avoid competition with private industry. He said that response was positive…
