It’s been almost nine years since the former Memorial Hospital was vacated- and to date- although there have been any number of concepts discussed- the lot sits vacant. There was some hope initially that the site could be developed for commercial opportunities- but none of those panned out. It appears now the preference of City Council members for the city-owned former Memorial Hospital site to be used for residential housing- with the idea not so much for the city to sell the lots for a certain price but to get properties on the tax rolls. The proximity of the site to Fort Hill High School could be a selling point to families. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes….
