Fort Ashby Woman Shot In Chest. Man Held On $250,000 Bond

West Virginia State Police in Keyser have issued a statement to WCBC News concerning a shooting in Fort Ashby Thursday evening.

On Thursday, July 13, 2017, at approximately 9:15 PM, S/Tpr. M. L. Travelpiece and S/Tpr. W. S. Weakley were dispatched to gunshot victim in Fort Ashby, West Virginia, in Mineral County.   Troopers encountered sixty-four year old Fred Harshberger and sixty-five year old Joanne Wagoner who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.  Mr. Harshberger and Ms. Wagoner resided together and had an argument over their relationship prior to the call. 

The Ft. Ashby and Short Gap Volunteer Fire Departments responded with ambulance service.  Ms. Wagoner was subsequently transported to the Western Maryland Health System by Maryland State Police Trooper 5 Helicopter for medical treatment.  

A pistol was recovered from the scene.  Mr. Harshberger was arrested for Attempted Murder without further incident.  Ms. Wagoner remains hospitalized in the ICU at this time.  The incident remains under investigation.  Mr. Harshberger was arraigned and given a $250,000 bond.
