Fort Hill vs. Avalon Cancelled; Possible Substitution Named

August 21st, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Due to an ongoing investigation into the use of ineligible players, the MPSSAA has cancelled the October 10th game at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

Avalon, a team that primarily plays private schools, has a roster that uses 19 year old students, has at least one ineligible player and according to High School Football insider Todd Helmick – two ineligible players that are in direct violation of the MPSSAA standards for competition. The MPSSAA does allow for players who have not turned 19 by August 31st, but cannot play more than 4 years.

Fort Hill is now attempting to fill the schedule hole, with one possibility in moving the Capitol Christian game to October 10th, and playing Archbishop Curley (Baltimore) on Thursday October 1st. WCBC Sports will continue to follow this story as information becomes available.
