Foul Play not suspected in death of Cumberland man

On Tuesday, at approximately 9:40 A.M., Officers from the Cumberland City Police Department, and members of the Cumberland Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Arch Street, Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland for a report of an unconscious subject laying near the sidewalk.  Upon officer’s arrival, it was determined that the subject was deceased. 

Investigators from the C3I Criminal Investigative Unit were contacted and a joint investigation was initiated.  The deceased was identified as being a 32 year old male from Cumberland, Maryland and next of kin was notified.  Numerous interviews were conducted and the scene was processed by the Maryland State Police Crime Lab. The evidence and witness statements indicated that no foul play was involved in the death of the victim. 

The deceased was transported to the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.  No evidence was discovered during the autopsy to indicate that the victim died from foul play.  Additional investigation will be conducted in this case.
