Four NBCI Guards Injured In Friday Attack

WCBC News contacted the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services after receiving word of a Friday incident at the North Branch Correctional Institute.  We received confirmation this afternoon from DPSCS Public Information Officer Gerard Shields:

"As you stated, four of our officers suffered injuries after being attacked by four inmates. The incident happened on Friday, January 29, 2016 at about 7:45 p.m. Four of the officers were taken to Western Maryland Regional Health System, where they were treated and released. Two officers required sutures while the other two were treated for exposure to pepper spray. All the inmates involved were apprehended and the incident was quelled quickly."
