Fourth Candidate Running for County Commissioner

April 28th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The next primary election in Maryland is not until June, 2014, but four candidates appear to already be running for county commissioner in Allegany County.  The incumbent Republicans, Mike McKay, Bill Valentine, and Creade Brodie, have filed for re-election and announced their intentions at a public meeting.  The fourth place finisher in 2010, Tom Striplin, a Democrat, is also planning another run.  Striplin, who fell just 49 votes short in his last campaign, has already held a fundraiser at Maplehurst Country Club and his website is promoting a golf tournament to raise funds on May 31.  Striplin is a former Board of Education member.
