Fracking Could Be Next Hot-Button Issue

Fracking may be the next hot-button issue in Maryland, and local legislators, expecting support for fracking proposals from Gov. Larry Hogan, say they favor such plans.  A group called Don’t Frack Maryland is running an aggressive campaign to place a moratorium on fracking — a process by which natural gas is extracted by injecting liquid at high pressure into subsurface formations.

Former governor Martin O’Malley ordered a study on the impact of fracking in western Maryland, which indicated possible approval of fracking operations in the area. Those opposed to fracking are concerned that the new republican governor could move forward with the process. Appearing on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” , Governor Hogan said its difficult to predict whether or not fracking can come to fruition during his term…
