Franchot Extends Tax Deadline For Flood Victims

August 1st, 2016 by WCBC Radio

To assist Ellicott City area businesses impacted by the storm and flooding, Comptroller Peter Franchot today announced a 30-day extension for Howard County business tax returns due during the month of August.  This extension includes Sales & Use Tax, Withholding Tax and Admissions & Amusement Tax. The affected business tax returns will be due by September 19, 2016.  Taxpayers who file and pay by the extended due date will receive a waiver of interest and penalties. The Sales and Use Tax vendor discount will apply as long as the returns are filed and the taxes are remitted by September 19, 2016.

“We want to assure businesses affected by the storms that we’re here to be of assistance if they have special needs,” said Comptroller Franchot. “I have spoken to many Howard County leaders in the past two days to let them know my staff stands ready to be helpful.”
