Franchot Says Susquehanna River Debris Is An Emergency Situation

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot says the deluge of upstream debris clogging the Susquehanna River after the days of rain is an emergency situation that calls for immediate action.  In the Baltimore area, particularly in Anne Arundel County, there are swimming and boating advisories warning those on the water about unsafe conditions following the opening of Conowingo Dam's spillgates late last week. He pointed a finger at Pennsylvania and other states in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and said Exelon has a role to play in preventing runoff as well.
