Franchot Would Like Kids To Go Back To School After Labor Day

Maryland Comptroller has some strong opinions when it comes to the start of the school year and how a few changes could prove a win for parents and the state. Comptroller Peter Franchot said this month that he would like to see a return to how it was when he was a kid- with the new school year starting after the Labor Day Holiday. In Maryland, for many years now, kids have returned to school the week before the holiday.  In addition, he wants to expand the “back to school” tax free week to include school supplies. As far as the opening day, he thinks families as the economy are both hurt by the early start- losing a valuable last week of summer….
